RISEN! A short course for New Catholics
“Now the time invites us to speak about the mysteries and to set forth the very purpose of the Sacraments” – St Ambrose
This short course takes the format of a shared discussion, with a period of formal input rooted in the Gospel and guided by a focal text or image. Refreshments will be provided and there will be no charge. Archbishop Peter Smith had the following to say about RISEN!:
‘The period of post-baptismal catechesis or mystagogy is dealt with in a variety of ways across the parishes of the diocese, indeed the parish is the main setting for this period. Catechists and clergy alike, however, have recognised and shared the challenges in keeping people together after the Easter Vigil. To provide some support for the mystagogical period, the Centre for Catholic Formation are offering a fresh, short course to new Catholics. I commend this initiative which aims to deepen the grasp of the paschal mystery among our neophytes and offers the chance to enter into closer ties with their new brothers and sisters in Christ.’
