Diocesan Day for Catechists - Saturday 23rd June

All the catechists of the Archdiocese of Southwark are invited to a new initiative from the Centre: a diocesan Day for Catechists, on Saturday 23rd June 2012, at St George’s Cathedral. The Day is for catechists involved in

  • Baptism preparation
  • Children’s Liturgy
  • First Confession & Holy Communion
  • Confirmation
  • R.C.I.A.
  • Marriage preparation
  • Adult formation.

The Day will begin from 10:30am onwards, and will include a keynote speech by Dr Anne Bamford, Director of the Archdiocesan Schools’ Commission. There will then be two sessions: the first will gather together the catechists in their particular area of catechesis, such as RCIA, Children’s Liturgy, Confirmation, etc; the second will offer a variety of subjects of interest. The Day will end with Mass at 4:00pm, at which the Archbishop will ‘send out’ catechists to evangelize and catechize on his behalf.

Information will be given about new courses and programmes, best practice and resources available. The CCF Bookshop will run a Bookstall on the Day.

Please bring a packed Lunch; tea and coffee will be available in the Amigo Hall.

Every Parish Priest has received a Registration Form and a letter to give to each catechist. Catechists are asked to let their Priest know which of the sessions they plan to attend.

In his letter to Parish Priests about the Day, Archbishop Peter wrote: "I look forward to meeting all the catechists of the Diocese at this significant and exciting new initiative on 23rd June".
